Renata Peçanha

Renata Peçanha is a professional dancer registered with the Associação Brasileira de Dança de Salão and a highly versatile teacher and artist.

Her repertoire includes Zouk, Lambada, Salsa, Samba de Gafieira, Forró, Soltinho, and Bolero, along with studies in Jazz, Modern, Contemporary dance, and Ballet.

She founded her academy in 2000, where she is principal dancer, choreographer, and director. It has become one of Rio de Janeiro’s most renowned ballroom dance schools. She has directed a dance company since 2006.

Nicknamed the “Queen of Zouk”, Renata is Brazil’s best-known Brazilian Zouk dancer; unsurprisingly, her academy specializes in Brazilian Zouk. Renata worked six years at Jaime Arôxa’s company, Brazil’s leading dance academy. Together with Adilio Porto, she created a teaching methodology for Brazilian Zouk recognized worldwide.

With Jorge Peres, her partner for 16 years, she developed a unique way of teaching and performing.

Renata has choreographed and danced for many renowned Brazilian TV shows and soap operas.

She is a highly sought-after instructor at Zouk congresses across Brazil, Europe, North America, Australia, and more, including Brasil Central, Casa do Zouk, Canada Zouk Congress, and the Dutch Zouk Congress, among others.

She also organizes Zouk and Lambada events such as Zouk in Rio and the Rio Zouk Congress in Rio de Janeiro.
